Arpita Goutam

Dr. Arpita Goutam is an executive member of the Public Health Promotion and Development Society (PPDS) and team lead of the project team. She is an assistant professor of microbiology at Eastern Medical College. She completed her MBBS from Dhaka National Medical College, an MPhil in Microbiology from Dhaka Medical College, and an MPH in Epidemiology at North South University, Bangladesh. She is skilled in conceptualizing and conducting epidemiological research, applying both quantitative and qualitative methods, analyzing cross-sectional and case-control data, and disseminating findings through peer-reviewed publications.

Her current research projects include investigating public awareness and attitudes toward dengue prevention among rural and urban populations and assessing medical and dental students’ psychosocial impact and behavioral preparedness in response to Mpox outbreaks in Bangladesh. Previously, she evaluated healthcare workers’ knowledge and practices regarding Nipah and Ebola virus management and explored socio-demographic determinants of HPV vaccine awareness among parents through nationwide studies.
Earlier, during her MPhil in Microbiology at Dhaka Medical College, she researched immune responses to bacterial antigens in animal models, contributing to experimental microbiology evidence. She has also worked as a medical officer in clinical settings, gaining frontline experience in medicine and oncology.

Her academic contributions are reflected in multiple international publications on vaccine acceptance, infectious disease prevention, and healthcare-associated infections, demonstrating a strong commitment to advancing public health and infectious disease research in Bangladesh
